Fall 2014 recap

New Sense Studios had an exciting 2014 fall semester! We welcomed a new parter and an additional session on Wednesdays! We were so excited to work with The Club Boys+Girls Teens Center! The teenagers there were wary at first but later welcomed our NC State CODesign volunteers. At the beginning of the semester we focused on building up skills with various mediums and towards the end of the semester students worked on personal mural projects.

The elementary age students worked on using various materials such as watercolor and added salt to create various patterns and textures, acrylic paint, cut paper, aluminum sculpture, masks, and even some glitter! They had a blast getting a little messy (sometimes too messy) and getting to know the college students at NC State! Some of their work was featured in the January Boys+Girls art show at CAM! Students learned a little about the history of Thanksgiving through study of Native american patterns and themes, and discovered themselves through a series of self portrait studies by choosing a characteristic of themselves.

We are excited for the new year and can’t wait to be inspired by the new group of students this Spring!
